What is your definition of Liberty?

Wikipedia defines Liberty as a contested moral and political principle that seeks to identify the condition in which human beings are able to govern themselves. It also describes different conceptions of liberty, which articulate the relationship of individuals to society in different ways, including some which relate to life under a "social contract" or to existence in a "state of nature", and some which see the active exercise of freedom and rights as essential to liberty.
As the definition says and also this is my personal view that you can never enjoy your liberties without fulfilling your responsibilities. In my humble opinion responsibility is the first step towards liberty. More you are responsible more you can enjoy liberty.

For me, liberty is a state of being free from whatever oppression. It let's you be you want to be. But liberty must be exercised with caution, and must be dealt with responsibly.

I came across a very lengthy essay on what Liberty is. You can read it from here.
