    Book about Philippines

Asia is a continent of "est's", having the some of the biggest countries, the most populated ones, the highest peek, and is practically the largest continent. But what about some of the smaller countries on this great continent, like Philippines. Most people don't know as much about them as they know about, say, China or India. Don't you think more books about it would help bring this wonderful part of the world known as Philippines higher on the must-go destinations list?

Amy Tan wrote the The Kitchen God's Wife, The Hundred Secret Senses, The Bonesetter's Daughter, and other great books. She uses her Chinese heritage to take the reader to a different world. I think one day, such books will be written in the setting of the Philippines by some new author.

Insight Guide Philippines, by Sylvia Mayuga. Non-Fiction. A great general guide to the Philippines. Whether you're traveling to the Philippines or just sitting on your couch reminiscing about previous trips, this guide is a wonderful book to have around. Plenty of full-page color pictures, maps, and descriptions of tourist stops not to be missed. The culture and history of the islands are given extensive coverage.

There are lots of books written about the Philippines. For me, readers must consider reading books that were written by non-Filipino authors as well as those written by Filipino authors. This will give readers a fair view and a good combination of sources of what's good and what's best from the Philippines.
